The U-shaped housing complex constitutes the combination of the two building types of this old Athenian neighborhood: the neoclassical house and the modern polykatoikia (apartment building). The interpretation of the constituent elements of the former one produces the ground-level part of the complex made up of one or two-story houses with enclosed courtyards while that of the latter one produces the complex's top part with repetitive floors, balconies, covered spaces and set-backs. The two parts remain autonomous and recognizable. A low-height, non-accessible in-between void space keeps them separate and offers views from the large interior courtyard towards the surrounding city.
